Things are buzzing on Vancouver’s Canada Line. The light rail SkyTrain that runs between the award-winning Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and downtown recently had a new station open at Capstan in Richmond. Amid the development clustered around that hub are two new buildings that together will house 457 hotel rooms. That’s good news considering Destination Vancouver has projected a need for 20,000 more rooms over the coming years.

The buildings, presently dubbed Building K and Building L, were designed by Vancouver-based Bingham+Hill Architects and will operate under Marriott branding. According to a report by DailyHive Vancouver, Building K will be mixed use, with seven floors of condos and seven floors housing a 142-room Le Meridien Pinnacle Hotel.

Just north of that on Sea Island Way, Building L was originally slated to be an office building, but sagging demand for office space prompted a pivot. The building will now be a 12-story Elements by Westin hotel with 351 short- and long-term stay rooms.

Opening days have not yet been set, but Building K is expected to reach completion in late 2025, while Building L should be ready by late Spring 2026.
