Historic New Brunswick Property Slated for Renovations

The Algonquin Resort, St. Andrews-by-the-Sea, Autograph Collection will undergo a multi-million dollar renovation over the next few years, InnVest Hotels has announced. 

Each of the 233 guest rooms will be upgraded as will the public areas including a redesigned lobby and revised dining venues. One of the first stages of the property overhaul is Usva by-the-Sea, a Nordic spa expected to open early 2026. 

In addition to an updated and refreshed design for the historic resort, the renovations are being introduced as a way to upgrade the property’s year-round appeal. “We’re committed to honouring The Algonquin Resort’s storied past while creating a modern destination that invites guests to relax, recharge, and return 365 days a year,” explains InnVest Hotels president & CEO Lydia Chen.

The 220-acre resort opened in 1889, one of Canada’s first seaside getaways. Over the last 136 years it has grown to include a 72-par seaside golf course, more than 20,000ft² of meeting space suitable for large groups, four dining outlets, a full-service spa, indoor and outdoor pools, and a fitness centre.

The creative direction for the project will be overseen by Canadian design agency Mackaywong. Renovations are expected to be complete by mid-2027.
