One of Bora Bora’s most recognizable names is entering a new chapter.
Bloody Mary’s, the French Polynesian restaurant and nightlife spot that has welcomed everyone from movie stars to honeymooners since 1979, will reopen this Fall as part of a new boutique hotel experience in Bora Bora.
The new 53-room Bloody Mary’s Hotel is located along Povai Bay, extending the long-running brand into a full hospitality property.
For many Canadians, Bloody Mary’s has long been a must-visit stop in Bora Bora, known for its sandy floors, fresh seafood, celebrity sightings and easygoing island atmosphere. Over the years, famous Canadian guests have included Keanu Reeves and Alanis Morissette.
“Rather than repositioning the brand, the project builds on Bloody Mary’s longstanding identity rooted in authenticity, connection and relaxed island culture,” the property said in an email to TravelPulse Canada.
Bloody Mary’s Restaurant closed in 2023 for renovations and has remained shuttered since then.

According to the property, the hotel will include bungalows and suites in lagoon- and mountain-view settings, along with several new dining and social concepts.
Among them is Povai Bay, a new overwater restaurant serving breakfast and dinner overlooking the lagoon, and Tiki Tide Bar, a cocktail venue designed for sunset gatherings by the water.
The property will also offer a marina, concierge services, swimming pool, fitness bungalow and complimentary shuttle access to Matira Beach, one of Bora Bora’s best-known beaches.
Set against views of Mount Otemanu, the hotel leans into the social, communal atmosphere that helped turn Bloody Mary’s into one of Bora Bora’s best-known meeting places over the last four decades.

“Since 1979, the Bloody Mary’s name has been woven into the everyday life of Bora Bora — a vibrant hub where dreams emerged, conversations sparked imagination, and people from all walks of life came together naturally,” the property stated.
The hotel is “a story rooted in Bora Bora and built over decades of connection with the island and its people.”
The reopening marks a significant new chapter for one of Bora Bora’s most recognizable hospitality brands — one many Canadian travellers have long associated with the island itself.
Bloody Mary’s Hotel is expected to open in September 2026.
