The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has big things planned for the “Grand Tourism and Sport Year 2025” campaign, with an anticipated 39 million international visitors entering the Land of Smiles this year. And it all starts with an overhaul of its arrivals process for visitors.

Starting May 1, 2025 entrants into the country will be required to apply for a digital arrival card, which they can do online up to three days before their arrival. This system will replace the paper disembarkation form visitors are currently required to complete.

The process for visitors is straightforward. They will be asked to enter personal contact details, passport information and details about their trip (flight number, purpose of visit and address in Thailand) into the online portal. Following that, visitors will receive a confirmation email which they will present to customs officials along with their travel documents.

The goal is a faster, more convenient entry process for visitors arriving by land, air or sea, as well as better border security for the country.

The Thai immigration bureau has published a brochure for download with more information for travellers. The application can be found at tdac.immigration.go.th/arrival-card/#/home.
