More Azores: Portuguese Islands To Enjoy Easy Access From Canada In 2024

Azores Airlines, the only airline offering year-round, non-stop service from Canada to Portuguese archipelago the Azores, will offer up to 11 weekly flights in 2024, plus non-stop flights to Madeira from Toronto.

In addition to 5x/week, year-round service between Toronto and Ponta Delgada, Azores Airlines will operate up to two weekly flights from Toronto to Terceira. Flights will depart Toronto on Wednesdays, returning on Thursdays from April 3 to May 30, and October 2 to 24, and twice weekly Thursday & Sundays between June 2 and September 29.

From Montreal, travellers will have the choice of 4 non-stop flights to Ponta Delgada, operating Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday between June 1 and September 30.

Azores Airlines has already announced new 2024 direct flights between Toronto and Funchal, Madeira, another mid-Atlantic Portuguese destination. Flights will begin in June 2024 and run through September. Find out more about Madeira’s plans to increase tourism from Canada here.

Azores Airlines describes the islands as “easily accessible (less than 5 1/2 hrs away) and very affordable,” with striking landscapes and nature, and a year-round temperate climate ideal for activities such as hiking, diving, snorkeling, whale watching, canyoning, golfing, bird watching and kayaking/paddle boarding.

For more relaxing activities, the Azores are rich in nature, culture, history, natural thermal pools, wine, and gastronomy.

The Azores offers nine islands to explore or travellers can connect through Azores Airlines to points beyond including; Porto, Lisbon, Faro, Madeira, Barcelona, Bilbao, Paris, Milan, Frankfurt and Praia.

Stopovers are free in the Azores for up to seven days in either direction. Within Canada, travellers can connect with code-share partner WestJet or interline partner Porter Airlines.
