Mexico welcomed 13.5% more international tourists in April 2025 compared to the same month last year, according to new data from the country’s National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
Canada was the second-largest source of international travellers to Mexico, with 1.4 million visitors, following the United States (4.9 million) and ahead of Argentina (144,551).

The April figures show that 7.66 million foreign travellers visited Mexico, up from 6.75 million in April 2024. The rise highlights the country’s ongoing rebound in international travel and the sustained appeal of its tourism offerings.
As reported by Mexico News Daily, “These figures reflect the upward trend in tourism in Mexico."

While INEGI’s report did not detail which destinations saw the highest increases, Mexico’s beach resorts, cultural hubs, and urban centres continue to draw significant visitor traffic.
International tourists spent 12.5% more in Mexico this April compared to last year, reaching US $3.042 billion. The increase is due to a higher number of visitors, as average spending per tourist slightly declined by 0.8%.

This growth comes amid global economic uncertainty and a highly competitive international tourism market. However, the consistent uptick signals that Mexico remains a top choice for leisure and business travellers alike.
