Canadian airline seat capacity to Jamaica is up 62.1% for early 2027.
According to the Jamaica Tourist Board's (JTB) latest Winter 2027 Airlift Outlook, airline partners have committed 1,324,965 seats to Jamaica between January and April 2027, an increase of 251,739 seats, or 23.5%, compared to the same period in 2026.
Canada is showing the strongest growth of any source market. The United States follows with a 23.1% increase, while Latin America is up 2%.
Both Canada and Latin America are also reporting seat capacity above 2025 levels.
“Our airline partners have given Jamaica a strong foundation for the winter season which reinforces their confidence in us," said the Honourable Edmund Bartlett, Minister of Tourism.
"The risk of the destination being underserved by airlift has been significantly managed down, and we expect the seats now committed to support strong occupancy across all segments of the accommodation sector. Our focus now is on converting those seats into bookings.”

Airlift Recovery Outpaces Hotel Reopenings
While the latest figures point to a substantial recovery in airline capacity, Jamaica's tourism industry is still working to restore its full accommodation inventory following Hurricane Melissa.
Approximately 3,500 hotel rooms, representing 10% of the island's room inventory, are expected to remain unavailable during the January-to-April period. That leaves roughly 90% of Jamaica's hotel rooms operational for the winter season.
Despite the year-over-year increase, overall airline seat capacity remains 7.6% below 2025 levels, reaching 92.4% of the capacity recorded two years earlier.
The JTB says airline commitments have continued to improve over the past 60 days, including additional confirmations within the last two weeks.
“Our teams in the various markets will continue to work with airline, tour operator and hotel partners to convert seats into bookings, while monitoring schedules, booking pace and reopening dates. We are grateful for all our stakeholders who are working to ensure we achieve this conversion,” said Donovan White, Director of Tourism.

What It Means for Canadian Travel Advisors
The 62.1% increase in Canadian seat capacity is particularly notable heading into the peak winter travel period, potentially providing advisors with more flight options for clients considering Jamaica.
The JTB says it will continue monitoring hotel reopening dates alongside airline schedules to ensure available airlift remains aligned with the island's accommodation capacity.
For Jamaica, the immediate priority is turning the additional airline seats into confirmed visitors while bringing the remaining hotel inventory back online.
