Canadian hotspots are being recognized as great places for romance or a spring-break style getaway. It’s no secret to us, but getting name-checked on a list of global spots that are worth a trip is a nice way to shine the light on places that certainly deserve the admiration.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Enjoy Travel recently published its picks for the 50 most romantic places in the world. Comfortably ensconced at number 14 is the beloved Castle in the Rockies, the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel.

Among palaces in Europe and seaside villas in the tropics, The Banff Springs was cited for its year-round charm and called “one of the most iconic and romantic hotels in the world.”

The title of most romantic went to Soneva Jani on Medhufara Island in the Maldives, with retractable-roof over-water bungalows (complete with private waterslide into the lagoon) and a No News/No Shoes policy to encourage guests to disconnect.

And while romance is delightful, sometimes grown-ups just want to let loose and party, if in a more sophisticated way than their collegial counterparts. For that, Conde Nast Traveller compiled its top choices for “Adult Spring Break Destinations”. At the top of the list was Vancouver Island. Noting that spring (March through May) is a great time to visit, the experts who compiled the list point to mild temperatures, cherry blossoms, accommodation prices that are below the summer peak and fewer crowds at popular attractions, such as whale watching, hot springs and on hiking routes.
