Discover Puerto
Rico has launched “The Green Path” an interactive microsite and certification program that provides travelers
with opportunities to explore the island in a responsible manner while earning exclusive
offers.
The Green Path
utilizes storytelling and immersive educational content to provide prospective Puerto Rico travelers with “a fresh, interactive” perspective
on sustainable tourism created “in collaboration with local creators,
environmental stewards, and cultural leaders,” according to Discover Puerto
Rico officials.
The Green Path
invites travelers to embark on digital journeys aligned with their personal travel
values. Users will learn “best practices for eco-conscious exploration” across Puerto
Rico.
The program’s
centerpiece is a certification program designed to guide users through four
sustainability pillars, each tailored to different aspects of conscious travel.
“The Foodprint” explores local farms, markets and eco-gastronomic
practices. Legacy Journey seeks to preserve Puerto Rico’s heritage through
architecture, culture, and stories.
The third
pillar, “Nature Paths” highlights the island’s biodiversity and outdoor
eco-adventures while “Conscious Stays” showcases responsible accommodations and
low-impact lodging options.
Each pillar’s
landing page features immersive content intended to inspire and inform
travelers. These include a first-person chronicle offering a look into
on-Island experiences; articles on sustainable travel, local dining, and
cultural insights, and an interactive map with descriptions to help users navigate
Puerto Rico.
The microsite also
features curated itineraries tailored to each pillar, and short-form video interviews
with community advocates.
Users earn
points and insights progress through the microsite. Upon reaching an 80 percent
completion score, they receive a downloadable, shareable badge recognizing their
status as “Responsible Travelers to Visit Puerto Rico.”
The certification
also unlocks access to exclusive deals and discounts from local partners
offering experiences and accommodations aligned with sustainable tourism
practices.
“By making
sustainability personal and actionable, we’re helping visitors align their
values with their vacation plans,” said Dalissa Zeda, Discover Puerto Rico’s digital
marketing director, “fostering more meaningful travel experiences while
supporting the long-term well-being of our Island.”
