Carnival Corporation is moving ships between several of its brands.
Holland America Line will add P&O Cruises’ Vista Class ship Arcadia to its fleet in 2029, bringing the premium cruise line’s total fleet to 12 ships and adding capacity for more than 2,000 guests.
As Arcadia moves to Holland America Line, P&O Cruises will receive Cunard’s Queen Anne. The 3,000-passenger Queen Anne is scheduled to join P&O Cruises in 2029 and will undergo extensive design changes to bring the ship in line with the rest of the P&O Cruises fleet.
For Holland America Line, the addition of Arcadia is designed to help accommodate continued demand while giving the cruise line more flexibility in its global deployment. Arcadia shares the Vista Class platform with four Holland America ships: Oosterdam, Noordam, Westerdam and Zuiderdam.
"Holland America Line continues to see strong demand from guests seeking immersive travel experiences, genuine hospitality and perfectly sized ships," says Beth Bodensteiner, president of Holland America Line. "Adding Arcadia allows us to welcome more guests while building on everything they already love about our brand."
The ship will also become part of Holland America’s ongoing Evolution program, a multiyear investment aimed at bringing new restaurants, venues, staterooms and other features to more ships across the fleet while maintaining the line’s mid-sized-ship experience.
Holland America has already announced plans for Oosterdam and Zuiderdam to undergo the transformation. Oosterdam is scheduled to debut its Evolution updates in fall 2027, followed by Zuiderdam in April 2028. The specific venues and features that will be added to Arcadia will be determined over the next several months.
Bodensteiner says Arcadia will give Holland America additional capacity as the line continues to develop its global deployment.
"Whether it's strengthening our presence in favorite destinations or opening opportunities to sail in new ways, this additional capacity helps us offer even more choices to travelers who believe the journey should be as rewarding as the destination," she says.
