Royal Caribbean announced that “The SpongeBob Musical” will
headline the theater entertainment lineup aboard Hero of the Seas, the cruise
line’s fourth Icon Class ship.
The Tony Award-winning Broadway musical will make its at-sea
debut when Hero of the Seas begins sailing from Miami in August 2027. The
production will bring SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick, Squidward, and the rest
of Bikini Bottom to life in the ship’s Royal Theater.
Royal Caribbean said the production will be reimagined
specifically for the cruise ship, combining the musical’s story and songs with
the company’s large-scale production technology.
“The SpongeBob Musical” will be part of a larger
entertainment and activity lineup aboard Hero of the Seas, featuring eight
neighborhoods, including the Crown’s Edge skywalk and zip line, Category 6
waterpark, and nine pools.
Travelers will also have access to 28 dining venues,
including Orleans Parrish Supper Club and Royal Railway – Hero Station. Family
accommodations will include the three-deck Ultimate Family Treehouse, which
features a rooftop terrace, whirlpool, and dedicated teen space.
Hero of the Seas will sail seven-night Eastern and Western
Caribbean itineraries from Miami, with every cruise visiting Perfect Day
CocoCay in The Bahamas.
