Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest ship Norwegian Luna welcomed her first guests this week.
The first travelers boarded the 3,565‑passenger ship in Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy, on Tuesday as the ship prepares to sail across the Atlantic for her U.S. debut in Miami later this month.
Norwegian Cruise Line also revealed the first official architectural images and videos of Norwegian Luna, showcasing the vessel’s modern design and curated spaces.
“Norwegian Luna is an absolutely beautiful ship and the true definition of what it means to cruise with NCL,” says Marc Kazlauskas, president of Norwegian Cruise Line. “After getting a first look at the ship, I am so excited for guests to enjoy the wide-open, outdoor spaces bringing them closer to the sea, the intimate yet thoughtful areas to retreat to and the electrifying entertainment and mouthwatering cuisine.”
The ship will spend its first year in Miami, offering a variety of three- and four-day Bahamas voyages, as well as seven-day Caribbean itineraries. Guests will be able to visit the newly enhanced Great Stirrup Cay, the cruise line’s private destination in the Bahamas, which features a new pier and several amenities, including an oversized pool, as well as the Great Tides Waterpark scheduled to open this summer. Later this year, the ship will also visit Harvest Caye, the cruise line’s private destination off the coast of Belize.
In April 2027, Norwegian Luna will debut in New York City, offering four- to seven-day Bermuda voyages with overnights at the Royal Naval Dockyard.
Standout features include the Aqua Slidecoaster, an amusement park-style outdoor area called the Luna Midway, a multi-level obstacle course called Moon Climber and a top deck recreational area called Horizon Park.
There’s also a two-story Mandara Spa, an adults-only Vibe Beach Club and The Haven ship-within-a-ship concept. Norwegian Luna also offers a wide array of entertainment offerings, including “Elton: A Celebration of Elton John,” “HIKO: Innovation Meets Wonder” and the new “A Tribute to Eagles.”
“Norwegian Luna gives guests the freedom to vacation their way and the opportunity to reconnect with those who matter most while making memorable moments along the way,” says Kazlauskas. “I look forward to welcoming her to Miami and kicking off her inaugural Caribbean season where she will visit our resort-style private island destinations, Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas and Harvest Caye in Belize.”
