Holland
America is returning to its tradition and bringing back popular
behind-the-scenes ship tours with exclusive access to rarely seen areas.
Guests booking the tour can now explore areas typically reserved
for officers and crew, to better understand the systems and operations that
keep the ship on a smooth sail. These areas include the bridge, galley, bakery,
engine control room, recycling center, main laundry, and more.
Senior officers and crew will offer detailed information and
expert insights, and at the end of the tour, guests will receive a ship-specific
lanyard, souvenir photo collection and a commemorative certificate.
Carole Biencourt, Holland America Line’s vice president of
onboard revenue said in a statement, “We hear so often from guests who’d love
to see the bridge or where our chefs
prepare their meals. By bringing back this tour experience we’re pulling
back the curtain to these areas that are rarely visited.”
She added, “We’re giving guests a rare opportunity to see
what makes our operation so unique. It’s a fascinating look at the inner
workings of a cruise ship, and guests love meeting the crew members who work
behind the scenes to create such a memorable experience.”
Behind-the-scenes tours are currently available on select
ships and expected to be available fleetwide by the end of July 2025.
Behind-the-scenes tours are bookable on board at Guest Services at the cost
$179 per person. An accessible option is available.
