WestJet continues to respond to an ongoing cybersecurity incident that began affecting some of its systems on June 13.
"As we continue work to determine the extent and overall impact of the cybersecurity incident, some guests may temporarily encounter intermittent interruptions or errors while using the WestJet app and/or WestJet.com and we are working to resolve these issues," the airline said in its latest update on June 15 at 3 p.m. MT.WestJet first acknowledged the issue on June 13, noting that the incident involved internal systems and limited access to the WestJet app. The company has not disclosed the nature of the breach or the systems involved.
“Our operation is running safely and remains unaffected by the current situation at this time,” WestJet said in its June 14 morning update.On June 15, WestJet reported ongoing progress. “We continue to cooperate with all associated regulatory bodies and law enforcement, while prioritizing minimal disruption to our guests and employees.”WestJet has promised updates every 12 hours—or sooner—via its website and social media channels. The airline has also urged guests and employees to exercise caution when sharing personal information during this time."We are grateful to our guests, our people and our partners for their support and patience,” the airline said in multiple updates.For the most current information, passengers are encouraged to visit westjet.com or follow @WestJetNews on X.
