Three Sunwing Airlines Boeing 737 aircraft have officially started flying for WestJet.

The move comes ahead of the full integration of Sunwing Airlines into WestJet, which is scheduled to take place on May 29, 2025.

The aircraft—tails 395, 396, and 393—are now operating within WestJet’s network, carrying both WestJet and Sunwing Vacations passengers.

Earlier this year, the three aircraft were transferred to WestJet’s Air Operator Certificate (AOC), and additional Sunwing staff have also begun transitioning to the WestJet team.

The aircraft transfer comes as WestJet faces delivery delays from Boeing, making the integration of Sunwing’s fleet a timely addition. All 18 Sunwing aircraft will eventually be incorporated into WestJet’s operations.

While the transition is underway, passengers may notice differences in branding and cabin layouts across the fleet. A full cabin reconfiguration is planned for 43 aircraft—including former Swoop, Sunwing, and Lynx planes—by the end of 2025.

According to the airline, once complete, the aircraft will feature upgraded seats and consistent Premium and Extended Comfort cabins in line with WestJet’s standard layout.

“This is an important milestone in our integration effort, and another step forward in enhancing sun and leisure offerings for more Canadians,” said Scott Wilson, VP of Operations and head of Sunwing integration at WestJet.

“We are truly proud of the ongoing work by teams across our two businesses to bring our organizations together to realize our dream of operating as one team.”
