Porter Airlines announced it has taken delivery of its 50th Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. The aircraft type now forms the backbone of the airline’s jet operations as Porter expands service across Canada, the U.S., Caribbean, Mexico and Central America.Porter said it has firm orders for 75 E195-E2 aircraft and purchase rights for an additional 25, which could eventually bring the fleet to 100 jets.“Since Porter’s founding in 2006, we have consistently focused on raising the bar for our passengers by proving that economy flying can and should be pleasurable for everyone," said Michael Deluce, President & CEO of Porter Airlines.
"The E2’s introduction into our fleet is allowing us to turbocharge these efforts as the fastest growing airline in North America over the last three years. The aircraft offers an incredible passenger experience and supports our promise as being the only airline in the region with no middle seats for any passenger on any flight. Our story is continuing as we reset the competitive landscape.”
Porter says the addition of its 50th E2 will support further capacity growth across its network. The E195-E2 is the largest aircraft in Embraer’s E-Jets E2 family. According to Embraer, it offers up to 29% lower fuel burn compared to first-generation E-Jets and a range of approximately 3,000 nautical miles, allowing for nonstop service across North America, Mexico and the Caribbean.Porter operates the aircraft in an all-economy configuration with no middle seats. The airline also includes complimentary onboard Wi-Fi, beer and wine served in glassware, and premium snacks for all passengers.
