Porter Airlines has launched two new nonstop routes from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) to Deer Lake Regional Airport (YDF) in Newfoundland and Labrador and Charlottetown Airport (YYG) in Prince Edward Island.

“Domestic travel is at an all-time high and travellers can now explore the east coast charm and beauty that Deer Lake and Charlottetown offer,"  said Andrew Pierce, vice president, network planning and reporting.

"Travellers heading west will also benefit from increased air service with the launch of these two routes and have options to connect to even more destinations across Canada and beyond.”

Service to Deer Lake began June 10th, offering three weekly roundtrips.

Flights to Charlottetown start June 13 with four weekly roundtrips, increasing to daily flights on June 26.

Both routes are seasonal and will operate through early September, covering the peak summer travel period.

The flights will be operated on Porter’s 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 jets, which feature a two-by-two seating arrangement with no middle seats.

The new Toronto routes complement Porter’s existing seasonal flights between Deer Lake and Halifax and year-round service between Ottawa and Charlottetown. These existing routes operate on Porter’s smaller 78-seat De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft.

Travellers can explore Gros Morne National Park and beaches in Deer Lake. Gros Morne’s ancient landscape is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
