Direct Routes Cut from Ottawa

Ottawa travellers who want to fly directly from YOW to Las Vegas or London, England will have a little less choice this year, as routes to the two destinations will not be taking place over the winter. Porter and Air Canada are each cutting a flight, joining WestJet, who announced Ottawa cuts earlier this summer.

In November, 2024, Porter introduced a four-times weekly flight to Harry Reid International Las Vegas (LAS). That route was suspended in June, 2025. The cut was part of the airline’s reworking of scheduled flights, responding to shifting traveller demand. At the time, the airline indicated they would resume flights for the upcoming winter months, but as demand to Vegas has continued to be soft, the airline has opted not to reintroduce the route. “A decision was made that YOW-LAS will not return to this year’s winter schedule, but we are considering other possibilities for Ottawa that will be determined in the coming weeks,” Porter Airlines said in a statement to local news.

And in a piece of bad news for transatlantic travellers, Air Canada has pulled its route between Ottawa and London Heathrow (LHR) for the winter. The flight launched in March, returning for the first time since being shuttered during the pandemic. After flying four times a week in the spring and summer, the last flight will fly on Oct. 25, 2025. An Air Canada spokesperson told CTV News that it is expected to resume next year, on March 30, 2025.

That will leave Air France’s flight to Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) as the only overseas route operating out of Ottawa.
