The Caribbean's ULCC Arajet will begin flying from Punta Cana (PUJ) November 1, making the airport the second base of Arajet and offering more than 200 flights via its network.
Frank Elías Rainieri, CEO of Grupo Puntacana, and Víctor Pacheco, CEO and founder of Arajet, said the addition will have "an extraordinary impact on the number of passengers that the airline mobilizes, strengthening the arrival of visitors in the Eastern part of the Dominican Republic."
"We are committed to making Arajet the airline of all Dominicans, and that's why we have always wanted to fly to all the airports in the country to allow them the opportunity to travel to other destinations with the lowest prices on the market," Pacheco said.
He added, "We are very happy and grateful to be able to realize this alliance with the Puntacana Group, Punta Cana Airport currently concentrates the largest number of visitors who arrive in the country by air, becoming the favorite destination of tourists. We are sure that together we will make the Dominican Republic the new air hub of the continent."
"We are happy to receive you as business partners in our airport community, we are sure that it
will be a successful alliance," said Frank Elías Rainieri. "With these new routes we continue to expand the network of
destinations and connections internationally and position ourselves as the most important
airport in the Dominican Republic."
Punta Cana Airport is listed as one
of the best airports in Latin America, with constant growth, handling 68% of the country's
tourist air traffic, connecting with 75 cities in 34 countries through 58 airlines and mobilizing
more than 9 million passengers a year.
Arajet will continue to have as its central base the International Airport of Las Americas in Santo Domingo. A full list of the airline's new routes will be available soon.
