Air Canada Updates Pets in Cabin Policy

Clients who are travelling with Rex or Mittens in the cabin of an Air Canada plane will soon need a soft-sided carrier for their four-footed friend.

Starting June 1, 2025 the airline will no longer allow hard-sided kennels or pet carriers in the cabin. The notice of the policy change states this is due to the varying space allowance under the seats in its aircraft. Since it is difficult to safely stow hard-sided carriers in some planes, Air Canada made the change for a consistent policy across the board. 

Pets are required to travel in a carrier that fits under the seat in front of the passenger, with enough space for the pet to stand and turn around. Passengers travelling with their furry best friend should notify the airline ahead of time, and ensure the carrier meets approved size allowances.
