Air Canada Suspends Montreal-Algiers Route

Another route has fallen victim to soaring jet fuel prices. Aeroroutes reports that the seasonal Montreal-Algiers route that had been scheduled for the summer of 2026 will not be operating. 

Originally the flight was set to fly four times weekly between June 1, 2026 and Sept. 23, 2026 on an A330-300 aircraft. 

“As we regularly do, we monitor and review our network to ensure that routes are meeting profitability targets. Jet fuel prices have doubled since the start of the Iran conflict, affecting some lower profitability routes and flights which now are no longer economically feasible,” Air Canada said in a statement. “Schedule adjustments, including some frequency reductions, are being made in response.” 

Daily Hive National reports that the airline has suspended the route for 2026 but is looking to reinstate it for 2027.
