INSIDE LOOK: The New Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya

The Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya is a brand new, adults-only resort that was recently renovated and opened December 1, 2022. For reference, it's the former beloved Secrets Capri, so some guests and agents will be familiar with the horseshoe shaped layout and low-rise style. With only 291 rooms, the hotel has more of a sophisticated boutique vibe to it.

There are 12 room categories that include a total of 40 rooms with swim-ups (pictured) and 6 suites with plunge pools. The swim-ups are on either ends of the "horseshoe" and offer either a resort-view (facing inside) or tropical view (facing outside).

This is always one of the top questions clients have when booking a vacation - what is the beach like?

Mexico has had a sargasum problem, but at the Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya, the beach is clear and swimmable. It was yellow-flagged during our visit due to a bit of wind, but people were in the water and enjoying the sand. We overheard guests commenting on how beautiful the water was with its different shades of blue and it's true. There are lots of lounge chairs and huts available and it's fully serviced.

The beach can easily be a perfect setting for a wedding or special occasion.

As with all Playa Resorts, the food and service are impeccable and Hyatt Zilara does not disappoint. The resort has 4 restaurants; 3 themed Tempest (Asian and features a sushi bar, teppanyaki table and general dining), Capri Grille (rustic Mediteranean) and Lola Beach (seafood and snackbar by the beach - pictured) and 1 buffet (El Comedor). There are also a variety of bars including Social located in the main lobby and Legends, a sports bar where it's a perfect to watch a big game or grab a late night drink or snack.

Reservations are not required at any themed restaurants. It's also worth noting that Capri Grille has a separate dining room available for booking at no charge.

Hyatt Zilara Riviera Maya can accomodate special occasions for up to 150 people.

The resort has extensive wedding offering packages that include client incentives and credits towards bookings. From the flowers to the wedding cake, an on-site wedding specialist attends to every detail.

Wedding bookings for 2023 are already filling up and agents are encouraged to book soon to avoid disappoinment.
