The eighth annual Travvy Awards culminated with a lavish awards gala at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina in South Florida attended by some of the biggest names and players in the industry on November 3. A plethora of renowned travel suppliers, including airlines, cruise lines, destinations, tourism boards, insurance providers and more, came away with gold, silver and bronze Travvys spanning a slew of categories in 2022. As always, the awards are voted on by those who know travel best, professional travel advisors. This year also saw Executive of the Year and Hall of Fame Awards given to a pair of industry icons who've made significant contributions over the course of their careers. To relive the epic night, here we share some highlights from this year's gala.

Travvy Sponsors

The 2022 Travvy Awards were made possible by a plethora of sponsors, including this year's official show sponsor Allianz Partners. Special thanks were also given to the show's gold sponsor Hotel Xcaret Arte. Both were Travvy winners as well in 2022.

Cocktail Hour

Guests appeared to have a great time networking, making new friends and catching up with old friends during the pre-show cocktail hour sponsored by Majestic Resorts and Virgin Voyages, both of which also came away with Travvy trophies.

2022 Travvy Awards guests were also able to make some lasting memories at the photo booth station sponsored by ALG Vacations, which added to its accolades this year.

Royal Caribbean International Dominates

The Royal Caribbean Group dominated at the 2022 Travvys, with Royal Caribbean International securing 11 wins, including eight gold awards, including first-place finishes for Best Cruise Entertainment, Best Large Cruise Line (Over 1,000 Cabins), and Best Contemporary Cruise Line. The cruise line was also well-represented on stage.

Welcome To the Hall of Fame

Howard Tanenbaum, Senior Vice President of Sales at Playa Hotels and Resorts, was honored with the Hall of Fame Award. It was one of many highlights during another successful year for Playa.

Princess Cruises Cleans Up

Princess Cruises Senior Vice President, Sales and Service Strategy and Operations, Cal Almaguer (left) poses with Vice President of Sales Carmen Roig (center) and Director, Sales, Anthony Viciana (right) after the cruise line won gold for the Best Cruise Line in Alaska and Australia/New Zealand/South Pacific as well as silver for the Best Cruise Line in Asia and Hawaii. Princess' Discovery Princess and Coral Princess ships also won silver and bronze, respectively, in the categories of Best Premium Cruise Ship and Best Mid-Size Cruise Ship (500 - 1,000 Cabins).

Celebrity Cruises Needs More Hands

Cory Wallace, National Account Manager, Celebrity Cruises, was on hand for this year's gala but quickly running out of them after the cruise line kept on winning. Celebrity Cruises received a total of 11 Travvy awards, claiming the Gold prize for Best Cruise Line in Central & South America, Best Cruise Line in Europe, Best Expedition/Adventure Cruise Line, Best Premium Cruise Line, and Best Premium Cruise Ship for Celebrity Beyond.

Dinner and a Show

Allianz Partners Chief Sales Officer Robert Cavaliere was among those travel industry favorites to grace the stage on gala night, expressing gratitude and keeping the crowd entertained during his time at the mic.

Allianz Wins Big

Allianz's Travvy wins included gold for Best Travel Insurance Provider - Customer Service and Best Travel Insurance Provider - Overall. From left to right, VP Sales and Partnerships, Tom Trotta, District Director Sales, Tim Behm, Business Development Director, Ashley MacLaughlin, Chief Sales Officer, Robert Cavaliere and VP, Head of Sales, Richard Aquino hit the red carpet to celebrate their success.

ALG Vacations Just Keeps Winning

ALG Vacations was among the night's biggest winners and was represented on the red carpet by Executive Vice President Jacki Marks (left), SVP Contact Centers and Operations Anderson Hernandez (center) and Regional Sales Director Lisa Doss (right). Its Apple Vacations, Funjet Vacations, Blue Sky Tours and Travel Impressions brands were all winners this year.

AMR Collection Collects Some New Hardware

AMR Collection, which won gold for the Best Hotel Chain - Overall and silver for the Best All-Inclusive Hotel Chain, among other victories for its individual properties, was represented by Regional Sales Manager Carlos Gonzalez and Business Development Manager Andrea "Andie" Hilbert on the red carpet.

The Executive of the Year

Discover Puerto CEO Brad Dean was named Executive of the Year at the 2022 Travvy Awards. Dean was also able to celebrate his team victory when Discover Puerto Rico earned the silver Travvy award for Best Tourism Board in the Caribbean.

Virgin Voyages Collects a Pair of Travvys

Virgin Voyages won the bronze Travvy for Best Cruise Entertainment and its Valiant Lady ship won bronze for Best Premium Cruise Ship. On the red carpet, the company was represented by Vice President, North American Sales, John Diorio, Manager of Trade Engagement, Sabrina Newman and Regional Sales Director, Juan Rodriguez.

Sandals Builds on its Stellar Reputation

Sandals, which won gold for the Best All-Inclusive Hotel Chain and silver for the Best Overall Hotel Chain in addition to wins for some of its individual properties, had a full house on the red carpet. From left to right, the party included Cheryl Hunstein, Paul Barnes, Vanessa Rostant, Adam Duckworth, Addison Jaynes, Carlie Finch, Gary Sadler, Catherine Pawelek, Laura Blanco and Ashley Beede.

Grupo Xcaret Finds its Way Back to the Winner's Circle

Grupo Xcaret came away with nine Travvy awards in 2022, including wins for its all-inclusive hotels and Xcaret Park, the latter winning gold for Best Water Park. Grupo Experiencias Xcaret's Rodrigo Motavelazco Loera was in South Florida to accept and pose with the Travvys on the group's behalf.

Greater Miami CVB Delivers

The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) won silver for the Best U.S. Tourism Board as well as silver for Best U.S. Honeymoon Destination and bronze for Best U.S. Culinary Destination. On the red carpet, the group was represented by Shayla Northcutt, Lisa Tanner, Kristy Durso, Nick Pena, Debra Lee, Julie Schear, Stephen Scott, Liliana Lahoz, Belvin Baldwin II and Andrea Williams.

Playa Hotels & Resorts Prevails

Playa Hotels & Resorts' National Accounts Manager Allison Farrell, Brad Cirino, Vice President of Sales, Andrea Wright, Vice President, Travel Industry Sales, were all on hand to receive the multiple Travvy awards given to the renowned brand, which was among the most dominant names in the hotel and resorts categories.
