Arnie Weissmann is the current Explorer at Large for Northstar, leaning into his love of adventure travel and discovery, and writing about his experiences in Northstar titles.
He stepped into the role in 2026 after 25 years as editor in chief of Travel Weekly.
Arnie has been involved in virtually every aspect of travel journalism, publishing and media for the past 30 years. He created the industry's first destination information service (Weissmann Travel Reports), authored a best-selling geography textbook and has served as publisher of critical hotel and destination guides for the travel industry.
Arnie was also a web pioneer, creating the first core destination content for America Online. Weissmann Travel Reports was sold to Reed Elsevier in 1996, after which Arnie served as Group Publisher over 15 business-to-business travel titles for Northstar’s predecessor company, Reed Travel Group. In 1999, he switched to the role of Senior Advisor for Business Development, and in October 2001 was appointed Editor in Chief of Travel Weekly
Arnie’s writing, photography and videos have received more than 60 national and international awards. Among other recognition, he received the American Business Media G.D. Crain Jr. Award, the highest honor given in business-to-business journalism.
